The text from a petition that Kurt Smith, HMS II, sent last week to
leadership of Harvard University and HMS follows:
Intent to raise tuition at the medical school was recently announced by
the Dean for Medical Education to the general student body. While the
medical school tuition has risen steadily over the last few years, this
latest increase will boost tuition costs by $2,250 from the current year,
an increase of 7% in a single year. While we understand that
considerable deliberation went into this decision, we as students cannot
passively watch such a policy to go into effect without raising our
concerns to the President and Fellows regarding the consequences of such
an increase...
