HAMILTON MOSES, III, MD

Since 1995 Dr Moses has been a Senior Advisor, Partner and Director of The Boston Consulting Group and leader of its world-wide Scientists Network of internal and external advisers. He has had wide experience guiding health science companies and academic medical centers in their strategy, research portfolios, and organization, with clients in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.

Between 1980 and 1994 Dr Moses had a variety of roles at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine, serving as vice-chairman of Neurology and Neurosurgery, director of the Parkinson's Disease Center, and was an active clinical researcher in movement disorders. From 1988 to 1994 he was Vice President for Medical Affairs and COO of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Chief Medical Officer of the Health System. From 1994 to 1997 he was Professor of Neurology in the School of Medicine of the University of Virginia and Professor of Business Administration in the university's Darden School of Business. In 1997 and 1998, Dr Moses was the Interim Psychiatrist-in-Chief of the Partners' HealthCare System in Boston (founded by the Massachusetts General and Brigham & Women's Hospitals), and a Visiting Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School.

In 1979 he founded American Medical Television, Inc. Over the last two decades he has served as a non-executive director or member of the scientific advisory boards of a variety of companies, including Molecular Tool Inc (Baltimore), Phoenix Medical Technologies (Charleston), Veritas Medicine (Boston) and as a member of the Clinical Genetics and Ethics and Public Policy Advisory Boards of SmithKline Beecham.

He is the author of 100 scholarly publications, and edited the neurology section of Hopkins' Principles and Practice of Medicine. While in Baltimore, he co-founded the Johns Hopkins Medical Letter - Health After 50, a popular letter for the public, At Virginia's Darden School he began Leading Health Care Organisations, a course in strategy and organisation for senior executives. He has served on several editorial boards.
